The Social and Emotional Competence Game utilizes research and evidence-based methods to help students build CASEL skills in the areas of self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making, all while having fun. This game is designed to easily integrate into existing programs.
To play, students roll the dice, move their tokens around the game board, answer questions posed on situation cards that match the colored space they land on, and earn chips for correct responses. Situation cards are color coded and focus on a specific topic: Sharing Feelings, Cooperating, Caring Communicating, and Getting Along. If the player lands on a ‘spin’ space they spin the spinner and will gain or lose chips. Detour spaces allow for increased focus on a situation topic. The player with the most chips at the end is the winner.
Contents: game board, 6 pawns, 1 die, 1 spinner, 250 situation cards (50 for each topic), 100 chips, instruction sheet, facilitator guide.
