Use this fun game to reinforce sentence skills! Strategy, chance, and hilarious sentences combine to keep students interested, fully engaged, and challenged. Players use who, what, where, and when phrases to build sentences. The sentences may be nonsensical, but must be grammatically correct. Subjects and verbs must be in agreement, and the same tense must be kept throughout the sentence. Players learn to recognize the difference between phrases and sentences, and they learn to make complete sentences with prepositional phrases. Playing the Super Sentence Game helps students to develop Executive Function skills and CASEL skills in the areas of working memory, organization, planning, relationship skills, and critical thinking skills.
In turns, players spin, move their pawns, draw tiles indicated on the spinner, and decide whether or not to place tiles on corresponding spaces on the game board. Play continues around the board, and when a sentence is correctly completed, that player removes and keeps the sentence. The first player to claim five sentences is the winner. The instructions include optional activities and ways to play.
