Spelligator

Spelligator is a super fun, interactive Science of Reading game that is perfect for building phonemic awareness, phonics, spelling skills, and learning common letter patterns.  The game also helps students strengthen CASEL relationship skills as students offer support and problem solve together during play.

Players take turns placing tiles to create words that they can place on their Spelligator.  The unique tile shapes guide children through beginning, middle, and final sounds, and help create a self-correcting learning process. Each tile is color-coded for common spelling patterns for added reinforcement. This game includes practice with consonants, vowels, digraphs, and blends. The game can be played at two levels of difficulty—Rookie for beginners and Expert for a challenge. The Rookie level uses tiles: s, a, t, p, i, n, m, d, g, o, c, k, ck, e, u, r, h, b, f, ff, l, ll, ss.  The Expert level uses all 75 tiles.

With four Spelligators, the game can be played by individual players, small classroom groups, or teams. The letter tiles are designed for easy manipulation so all students can have an enjoyable word-building experience.

Contents: 4 Spelligators, 75 letter tiles, a game guide, a tile list, and an acceptable word list for settling disputes.
