The Science Decodables engage students, even resistant readers, with high-interest non-fiction passages that have amazing full color photographs.  Each story is written with strictly controlled text, so that students are only asked to practice decoding letter sounds they have been taught.  The inside cover of each book has a list of the letter sounds it uses, along with any tricky words that need to be introduced before students read. 

Another great benefit of using these nonfiction texts is that they help students build their fund of knowledge while growing their vocabulary and decoding skills.  This set of 60 titles aligns with common science curriculum topics.  Although written for lower elementary, these decodables can successfully be used with any age student who needs to practice basic decoding skills.
