Learning about language has never been more enjoyable than with this bright, vibrant new book! The Meet the Word Family Interactive Reading Book will help you teach your students about word families while keeping them engaged and having fun. This book was designed by an autism specialist to support your student’s IEP goals. It utilizes research and evidence-based methods to help students build literacy skills in the areas of early language skills, phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension.
This book supports IEP goals by teaching matching, identifying, and labeling of objects, followed by reading sentences with pictures, without pictures and in random order. In order to meet various needs, the book is designed to be used on multiple levels, with 4 pre-reading skill activities and 3 reading skill activities described in the instructions on the inside cover.
Young children will love to match the 2" x 2" full color Velcro backed pictures to create word families for each new sentence page. Although it was designed for special education, this book is a fantastic learning aid for any reader at a kindergarten reading level. Sentence examples: "I can cook the warm baked ham." "He can spread the berry jam."
This laminated book is bound with loose-leaf binder rings so that pages can be reordered or removed as desired. Following the instructions page that outlines seven levels of pre-reading and reading activities, it features 5 pages of 30 full color 2" x 2" Velcro backed pictures followed by 10 different sentence pages. Each sentence page has 3 sentences that end with rhyming words. Students find the rhyming words on the velcro cards and match them to the words below the sentences.
